Damien Jurado’s music is cinematic in itself. It paints landscapes that are stark and unfamiliar but beautiful. It provokes emotion, introspection and consideration. The last installation of what accidentally became a trilogy is titled, Visions of Us on the Land and includes the track, “Exit 353.”
The music video was directed and conceptualized by Elise Tyler. The video depicts two female characters exposed, in need. Jurado picks the two up on the side of the road, offering blind compassion only to realize that, as Tyler puts it:
“…that he should have never been seduced back into society, that he was and is alone among men.”
Visions of Us on the Land is due out on March 18th on Secretly Canadian.
This track is off of Here We Go Magic’s upcoming record, Be Small, which will be out October 16th on Secretly Canadian. This interestingly eccentric track leaves you wondering what they had in mind. According to Luke Temple of Here We Go Magic, they did this on purpose BUT they have a reason to their madness:
“It’s very linear and dark at the same time. We only like to think and talk about the things and places that everyone else is thinking and talking about…the funny little story of man.”
