It slipped through the cracks

This film slipped through the cracks some how but was brought to my attention recently. I seriously can’t get Iceland off of my mind and seem to be trying to find anyway possible to incorporate their music into my everyday life. I’m sure many of you out there have heard of Sigur Rós but they are a truly unique group of individuals who create music that borders experimental, dark, moving, bright, sky-bound, and fantastical in sound. Cheers to their talent and devotion to their fans. I highly recommend watching their film, ‘Heima’ and revisiting their music. They just released their most recent album, Kveikur, June of 2013 by the way.

Airwaves is where it’s at!

So apparently this festival in Iceland is where I need to be next November. Tickets go on sale December 1st…My wheels are turning already. I was simply blown away by the few tracks that Bob Boilen of NPR and Kevin Cole of Seattle’s KEXP shared on this week’s episode of ‘All Songs Considered.’ This festival has been going on in Reykjavik since 1999 and has quite the reputation for having not only already well known and respected artists from worldwide, but also new, unique and undiscovered artists of Iceland and the world. Who doesn’t want to go to Reykjavik for a weekend of incredible music? The artists they featured on the show included Junius Meyvant and Samaris, both of Reykjavik.
