Adult Swim

New single and wacky video to accompany it: “Florian Saucer Attack” by Black Mountain

Black Mountain only teased us with tiny snippets of sound and mini vids on repeat. Now they are giving us the full blown experience: a space age, raw, rock track with a wacky title and an equally as ridiculous (but genius) animated video stocked with alien rulers, freaky creatures with freaky tentacles, pulsating brains and flying saucers, all perfectly in time with the tune. It’s like Dr. Seuss meets Heavy Metal.

Not surprisingly, the video was crafted by the brilliant Chad Vangaalen and premiered on Adult Swim. About the song and video, Black Mountain says:

“Chad VanGaalen gives us an incomprehensible cycle of life, a chain of icky nuzzles and complex formulae that lead us to the creation of an epic sauce…modern alien cuisine is no joke.”

Get it?

Cartoon music video for Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s track “Unnecessary Evil” premiers on Adult Swim!

And a premiere on Adult Swim is justified! The music video totally endearing but equally as bizarre and off-kilter as all of the shows on Adult Swim. Directed by Sean Solomon the cartooned characters are players in an “abstract love” story whose faces melt and change shape all the while other strange and interesting things are happening….just like love.

About the video Solomon said:

“The video is an abstract love story about two characters whose insecurities and paranoia eventually drive them apart. I tried to show both character’s perspectives using elements from the lyrics. I had a team of amazing animators and friends.”

The video will premiere live on air during the “Toonami” block on Adult Swim on Saturday November 21st.

And one more exciting bit of news before I throw some tour dates at you. Ruban and brother Kody Nielson won their home country’s most sought-after musical award, the APRA Silver Scroll, for co-writing “Multi-Love” together. Congrats, guys!
