Rocky Votolato is an indie/folk singer-songwriter who hails from the fog and green of beautiful Seattle. Votolato has been performing, touring and writing songs for the past two decades, initially under the name of Waxwing. In 2006 he released his first record, Makers, under his own name. Fast forward 10 years and he’s now releasing his latest EP titled, Sawdust and Shavings. According to Votolato, the concept of the EP is “casting out our demons” and realizing that there is “light at the tunnel of these songs.” Sawdust and Shavings is a record full of hope, made for healing and created based on the fact that from tough experiences, we can extract something beautiful, “a sense of purpose.”
Last month the music video for the title track, was released. The track itself hearbreakingly and hauntingly beautiful with the video in perfect compliment. The video was directed by Luca Lucchesi who worked with director of photography, Sönke Hansen who settled on an old bunker in Berlin for shooting the video.
