News from Sylvan Esso: Video for Moog Sound Lab Session

Sylvan Esso in space? Sylvan Esso visiting us from the future? Sylvan Esso remixed? Sylvan ESso in the Moog Sound Lab:

This is just Sylvan Esso just being the incredible musicians we have all come to know and love them as. As many of you know I’m sure, Sylvan Esso is the extensively innovative duo consisting of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn. Not much in terms of new music has been released to for the public’s enjoyment (unless you seem the live and they treat you with some new tunes) since the drop of their debut record back in 2014. However, they teamed up with the folks at the Moog Music factory in Asheville, North Carolina to put together an even more multi-dimensional version of their song “H.S.K.T.” For you big time music engineering/production nerds out there, Moog said this about how the song was performed:

Using Ableton Live to route MIDI messages to an array of analog synthesizers, Nick Sanborn controls his Minitaur for basslines as well as a tower of Minimoog Voyager Rack Mount Editions to produce H.S.K.T.’s percussive track. Ableton’s master MIDI clock locks the arpeggiator tempo of a Moog Sub 37, which all ran through an MF-104M Analog Delay. Vocalist Amelia Meath played a Werkstatt running through the Minifooger Delay, and sang through another MF-104M Analog Delay. Nick then sequenced the whole thing with his Akai APC40. The only prerecorded sound was a loop of of Amelia singing “wanna get” from the original track.

If you missed Sylvan Esso this year, they still have a few more tour dates! I highly recommend seeing them live. Just watching their Moog Sound Lab Session stirred up the goosebumps that set in when I had the pleasure of seeing them live in Portland earlier this year. Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn have crafted something extremely special and they genuinely love sharing it with their fans. Check ’em out:
