Well, Kishsi Bashi is right all of the time, but this Sunday morning in particular, Kishi Bashi is like the sun poking through these thick clouds that are hovering over Bozeman right now. I’m not saying I don’t like the clouds. They are likely harboring waiting snow (which is a good thing!) but what’s wrong with a little sun on a cloudy day? I’m currently listening to Kishi Bashi’s sophomore album, Lighght. Kishi Bashi is the musical moniker for K. Ishibashi who previous to his debut solo album ‘151a’ that was released in 2012, was known mostly for his incredible way with the violin.
Kishi Bashi’s sound is from another planet. On this planet, the sun is shining all of the time, through winter, spring, summer and fall…during snow and rain and everyone is happy all of the time. Additionally, everyone is dancing all of the time and everyone likes each other. Sounds like a nice place doesn’t it?
Check out “Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!”….I’m fairly certain this music video is footage from a party on Kishi Bashi’s planet:
And, here’s his Tiny Desk Concert. Stripped of all of the wild colors, extra instruments, and flourishes that technology provides. He is immensely talented without them:
I’ll be back later today with this week’s playlist!
